Arts Olympia meeting, November 7, 2016 Introductions Nov/Dec events Salon at Lynette's home, Nov. 21st at 7pm, topic is "The importance of knowledge and reference to art history in our artwork." Monarch Sculpture Garden received a grant. The Survey Steering Committee met on Oct. 22 to discuss the results of the survey. Some results are: Name tags were passed out by Michael for each artist to supply their own design and name, which will take the place of the round-Robin introductions to begin each meeting. Regarding the number of pieces of art brought by each artist for sharing, the group did not want to limit the number. Each person who shares art should be mindful of the amount of time they use so others can have a chance, but no one will "monitor" the time. Artists who want to teach others and share their art can be included in a database so others know they are available. Those who do want to do this should let Michael know. Michael will notify Stephanie Johnson about our meetings so there is more public notice of meetings. Lynette will contact Gallery Boom to see if they have room to show some artwork from Arts Olympia members. There was some discussion about a show for young artists. Need to be more organized to pull it off, and teachers do not always have the time to deal with it. Could vans be rented cheaply from Intercity Transit for members to visit galleries and shows? It was agreed that AO should let teachers know that AO can help with supplies because there is no regular art instruction in elementary schools in this area. Schools are relying on parents and other groups to provide for free, after testing periods are completed. The remainder of the meeting art was shared. There may be pictures of art in future reports.
